You may have asked yourself this question before: How to start a business without the money? It may seem to be a dream. And if I tell you it’s indeed possible! Would you say it’s too good to be true? Don’t miss this opportunity.

Let me explain a few things in this post.

Brick and mortar business and online business

First of all we know that a brick and mortar business requires money (an initial investment). In fact, you’ll need a lot of money. Most of the time, entrepreneurs in the past needed to convince investors that they had a good business idea. Or go and visit that rich uncle and ask him to lend them a significant amount of money. So, not having this initial investment would disqualify many of us.

Man_outside_a_Bank

On the other hand, online businesses don’t need as much money to get started as brick and mortar businesses. And this is reasonable. Lot’s of the infrastructure is digital and not as expensive.

We’ll take the online business path

So you’ve already discovered one thing: the business opportunity we’ll present in this post is an online business.

But wait a minute. You said opening this post that a business could be launched with no money. An online business still requires a little investment.

Well, the good news we want to give you is that there is a legitimate business model in particular in which you’ll need $0 USD to get started.

In my book, this is the best way to start a business online. First of all, zero risk. But that’s not the only reason to consider it your best option, although being able to start completely free, is a huge benefit. But the fact that it’s a very simple model, makes it a unique starting point for any entrepreneur. This business model is called affiliate marketing.

This is a no-brainer, it’s definitely worth giving it a try. Click here to check it out.

We have to warn you a couple of things

We must warn you that in this business model you’ll have to work a lot. This is, by no means, a “get rich quick” scheme.

We must also warn you that even though online business are so inexpensive to launch, the rate of success is lower than with brick and mortar businesses.

And, why is that? Pretty simple. Most people launch an online business quickly, since it requires little to no investment. But not having it cost them much, then they don’t value it as much as those that make huge investments in brick and mortar businesses. So, failure is the inevitable outcome in most cases.

Despite the fact that this will cost you nothing to get started, please promise us one thing: you’ll give it your best shot!

What will you be doing in this business?

We could use an illustration to help you understand how this business model works. Imagine you own a magazine or a newspaper. You publish content (articles, audios or videos) about a specific topic.

Your goal is to inform and entertain people that are interested in that topic. But since you choose what this topic will be, creating content is exciting.

You could also recommend useful products and services. You must be honest in these recommendations. If a product is good, go on and tell your audience it’s good. If it has some flaws, don’t hesitate to mention them. If a product is no good, please don’t through flowers at it.

By being honest you’ll build a solid business and guarantee a loyal following.

Summing up affiliate marketing

This business model is quite simple. It’s easy to understand. You’ll be focused in creating good useful content. You’ll earn commissions from purchases people do after they read/hear/see your recommendations. You won’t be handling customer complaints nor guarantee policies. Content, content and more content! Sounds cool!

I know there are several topics in which you could share your ideas with the rest of the world. And by doing it, build a business. You’re able to get started free: Why would you want to miss this opportunity? Click here to check it out.

Rightly said Henry, online business is definitely the way to go in this present age and for many obvious reasons. It is very budget-friendly as you don’t exactly need to break the bank or source outside investment to get started.

I can totally relate to the idea that most people don’t actually value their online business because it almost always cost them nothing to get started. It is no longer news that anything that comes cheaply, or free is generally under appreciated.

Thanks for sharing, Henry

    Henry · January 21, 2020 at 11:27 PM

Hi Leo. Yes, sadly, things that are free or that cost us very little in most occasions are not esteemed.

Jon · January 21, 2020 at 10:48 PM

Your right… the only path is online. I had a brick and mortar business. Start up costs are always enormous. What online businesses do you recommend to stay away from? This post was an excellent find and should be shared.  I look forward to seeing more of your posts in the future.

    Henry · January 21, 2020 at 11:48 PM

Hi Jon. Thank you very much for your comment. I recommend affiliate marketing but it’s not the only business model online. You could use drop-shipping, direct selling, among others. I won’t disqualify any of these other models. I’ll just say that the easiest to get started is affiliate marketing.

Juan Saladin · January 21, 2020 at 10:50 PM

That’s really what a bank is! Thanks a lot for keeping it simple, direct and funny.

Affiliate marketing has been around for a while now. This is a millionaire market were every one with the right set of knowledge would be able to take a piece of the cake to them. I’ve followed your link to find a very interesting proposal. I already joined Wealthy Affiliate and I can say from first hand experience that they have a lot of training material of really good quality available and what matters the most, for me: a fully active and super responsive community on live chat support.

Thanks for a great recommendation and for presenting it in a very funny way.

    Henry · January 21, 2020 at 11:44 PM

Hi Juan. I’m glad you’ve already joined Wealthy Affiliate and that you’ve had a great experience with them. Yes, live support inside the platform is really impressive.

Thanks for sharing your experience in this platform with all of us.

Andreas · January 21, 2020 at 10:57 PM

I think this a very nice post! It explains in a simple and funny way how everyone has the blueprint right in front of them to start a business. But it also explains that it is not easy and it demand work from anybody that would like to go this path.

I love the cartoons you have, they are fun and really gives a lot to the content.

I have been building my online presence for some time now. But I think a lot of people need to read this to be able to understand the small things that can become a big part of our lives.

Great post and again great visuals!

    Henry · January 21, 2020 at 11:37 PM

Hi Andreas. Thank you for stopping by and sharing with us a bit of your experience as an affiliate marketer.

I agree, small things like these can become a big part of our lives.

All the best with your sites.

Patrick · January 21, 2020 at 10:58 PM

I am convinced that online affiliate opportunities are the future for providing opportunity and freedom. Building a residual passive income rather than trading time for money is the only way to have true freedom and success.  There are educational platforms that provide an easy to understand, step by step, tested path for building an online business. I would wholeheartedly agree and recommend checking opportunities like this if you are considering a way to make money online.

    Henry · January 21, 2020 at 11:32 PM

Hi Patrick. I’m glad these platforms that take us step by step already exist. Anybody can unleash it’s marketing potential following detailed training.

Rodarrick · January 23, 2020 at 10:47 AM

Very well said. I must confess that all you have said here is right on spot. The way to go now is to pursue online means. Brick and mortal business is way too demanding concerning investment.

The best way to ensure building an online business seems to be through affiliate marketing. However, it also requires a lot of work from us too. Great one here.

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 5:58 PM

Hi! Rodarrick. Yes, affiliate marketing is one of the best options to get started. Wish you the best on this journey.

Michel · January 23, 2020 at 10:47 AM

Compared to twenty years ago, it is so much easier to own your own business now than before, as you don’t require the capital that you needed in the past to start up.

Thanks to the Internet, all you need is a computer and a good connection and you are on your way. If you are willing to learn, work hard and patiently wait for the profits to start seeping in, you are a good candidate for an online business.

Your recommendation for recommending products to others is great. Don’t we all do that anyway when we find something we like, we just don’t get paid to do it. Well, now we can!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 6:02 PM

Hi Michel. Good point. We already recommend products that have helped us. But without affiliate marketing, we recommend them for free (now, we can earn commissions).

Richard · January 23, 2020 at 10:47 AM

Hi Henry 🙂

Great post, going online has worked well for me. Low startup cost, no stock, employees, premises, or customer management costs.

Do need a proven plan of action and the drive to follow through tho…

However, there are lot’s of good ones to choose from (ignore the too good to be true ones)

If you were to give people one tip what would it be?

Richard

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 6:06 PM

    Hi Richard.

Thanks for separating the things we need from the things we don’t need. And we should definitely avoid the “too good to be true” offers.

One tip: treat affiliate marketing as you would treat a brick and mortar business. In other words, give it your best shot!

Nimrodngy · January 23, 2020 at 10:52 AM

Hello Henry. Thanks a lot for sharing with us this opportunity.

I have already started my way in affiliate marketing. I’m working every day posting content on my sites and promoting many products. Every day is a challenge for me. Each action I take in this business I view it as a step towards my goals of becoming independent and giving up to my daily job.

Thanks again for this article. Wish you all the best!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 6:13 PM

Hi! Good you have already started with affiliate marketing. I see you’re encouraged and have been working a lot! All the best with your sites!

RazvanIlie · January 23, 2020 at 10:53 AM

Thanks a lot for this post! Nowadays if you dedicate time you can make a business even without money. No need to go and knock at the door of our uncle to ask for a loan. We should still call him, though… to invite him for a meal or give him a gift!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 6:24 PM

Hi! Yes, being close to our family and showing respect and kindness towards them is a key value. Up to this point in life, we already owe a lot to them.

Shanta Rahman · January 23, 2020 at 10:58 AM

Thank you so much for sharing with us this post. I had a clothes business, but I finally had to close it down. Things changed and I started to lose more than I was gaining. Well, I think I learnt my lesson. But now I want to go back into business and have been confronted with this dilemma: online or offline. Online is the future, so your post has helped me make up my mind.

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 7:40 PM

Hi Shanta. I’m glad my post has helped you make up your mind. All the best in your online endeavour.

ALwande 7 · January 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM

Online business startup! When you get to choose what your business will be you can enjoy what you do. That makes a big difference. A person that has to focus in producing content, must enjoy researching, writing and marketing the topic he’s working on. It may be a dream come true for some, including me!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 7:53 PM

Hi! I’m glad you have found in affiliate marketing a business you enjoy. All the best!

vesna7777 · January 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM

Yes. I think the same way. I don’t have time to trade time for money within corporate companies, any more. I’ve decided to learn everything about affiliate marketing, through blogging. I am on my on path, few months now, and made it fun (like you in your post 🙂 ) It demands a lot of patience and researching but if you are passionate about enough – the success should come eventually. Investment in expanding your knowledge is always worthy.
I’ve chosen Pinterest platform to share my contents and already have significant traffic. Thank you for this positive, informative post!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 8:05 PM

Hi! Thank you for your nice comment about this post. Happy to hear it’s fun. 🙂

Good you have already launched your site and are using Pinterest in your strategy to increase your traffic. You seem to be heading in the right direction. All the best with your business.

Rutz · January 23, 2020 at 11:01 AM

I really like the fact that one can start a business with out any money at hand. Affiliate marketing is one way of earning an income online and I have seen it work for myself, thanks to Wealthy Affiliate. I have been able to create and bring up my website and am now on my way to earning commissions.

I’m happy I didn’t let this opportunity go by.

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 8:09 PM

Hi! Yes, good you didn’t let this opportunity go by. All the best building your site. I hope to hear you again soon talking about your first commissions.

John Musonda · January 23, 2020 at 11:26 AM

I never knew this strategy for generating income online. It’s true that when you have training that works, results come so much faster. And I’m also glad that you’re pointing out to a platform that has good reviews. I have read several of them up to this point. Haven’t joined yet but you have convinced me of giving it a try.
Thanks for this post!

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 8:30 PM

Hi John. Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’ve come across this opportunity. All the best.

Feji ben · January 23, 2020 at 11:38 AM

I must say that this should be spread widely. So many of us can benefit from these online opportunities, yet they haven’t availed us anything because we haven’t heard about them, in most cases. I’m grateful I came across your post, and will also do my part in spreading this by sharing with some of my friends.

    Henry · January 23, 2020 at 8:13 PM

Hi! Thanks for sharing. I hope that many that need a type of business like this can get to learn about it.

Jannette · January 27, 2020 at 10:38 AM

Hello Henry,

I came across your article after researching online how to start an online business without a huge investment and compared with the cost of brick and mortar business, it’s a no-brainer. Brick and mortar businesses are expensive.

My mother-in-law opened a restaurant a few years ago. However, it didn’t last very long due to expenses. This model you mention here, affiliate marketing, I will have to check it out.

    Henry · January 27, 2020 at 7:05 PM

    HI Jannette.

Yes, comparing a restaurant with a website, you could earn a living with both, but the former needs way more investment. All the best in your journey with affiliate marketing.

Sphiwe Dubandlela · January 27, 2020 at 12:54 PM

I think most of us fall in that category of hoping that there will be great success without putting hard work behind it. To be honest I didn’t know about Affiliate Marketing until a few months ago. My experiences so far are just great.

The low success rate does concern me though, are you saying that failure is only from those who are not putting enough hours? What are other factors because I am sure there must be one or more other things.

How about unreasonable goals? Could it be that some of us put high a goals such that when not achieved within a specified period we give up?

On a personal note I am determined to be counted amongst the low success rate. I see this as a business, I am passionate about my niche and my content is coming out naturally. I have learnt a great skill of product review, all these years when one reads online product reviews one never gets connected with the reviewer. Until I have done it myself it always felt like someone is speaking from ivory tower.

When I do my reviews I feel connected to my audience and I am more honest because I speak about something that I have personal experience of.

Thank you for a good write up.

    Henry · January 27, 2020 at 7:19 PM

    Hi Sphiwe!

Concerning your question, you’re right. Not trying hard enough is number one reason people fail. And if somebody tries hard enough, long enough, he’ll make it through one day. But goals… initial goals may serve as an encouragement if they’re realistic or as distractions if they’re unrealistic.

I’m glad you’re passionate about the topic you deal with on your site and that your content is flowing naturally. I wish you all the best connecting with your audience and building your business.

Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving a comment. Have a nice day!

Aly · February 5, 2020 at 4:49 PM

This is a good discussion of ways to start an online business and one of the best ways to earn money with the venture (affiliate marketing). It’s definitely easier to start without a lot of capital or investment, but like any business, it still requires effort to make it a good money-making business.

    Henry · February 6, 2020 at 6:08 PM

    Hi Aly.

Yes, thank you for summing it up: it’s free but it still requires effort!

Katie · February 5, 2020 at 4:49 PM

Yes! This is great info and inspiration, thank you! I have already made up my mind to get started with affiliate marketing. Sometimes we have to get a little creative when starting our business. I’m slugging to make my mind concerning the topic I’ll deal with on my site.

I have also been searching for affiliate programs. And I have found so many: Commission Junction, ShareASale, etc. I’m so overwhelmed with the choices! Which one would you recommend to get started?

    Henry · February 6, 2020 at 6:50 PM

Hi Katie! I’m glad you got started with affiliate marketing. It’s good you gave this step. And don’t worry, we all struggle to find that topic we will talk about on our site (it’s also called niche).

I’d advice you to relax a bit and write down a list of topics you would like to talk about. And even research a bit about each one and measure which one you feel the most excited about. You’ll do well! All the best!

Sebastian · February 5, 2020 at 5:14 PM

Thanks for this helpful post.

Starting a physical business like brick and mortar business, as you said, requires a lot of resources. But the big problem is you can’t start a business while you are a full-time worker. I am a full-time worker and that is not feasible!

However, an online business, not only offers you the possibility to start for free or low investment but also you can do it part-time.

Thank you for sharing!

    Henry · February 6, 2020 at 6:56 PM

Hi Sebastian. You’re right. We can all test the waters while we still hold on to our full-time jobs. Once we see our business take of it’s a no-brainer to say good bye to our 9 to 5 routine.

Danijel · February 24, 2020 at 4:42 PM

Hello Henry. Affiliate marketing is definitely one of my favorite methods of earning money online because it fits perfectly into my daily routine. I am still working in an ordinary job, but I have already 2 years earning money on the side with affiliate marketing. I think I will never give up on it because it’s convenient.

    Henry · February 24, 2020 at 5:03 PM

Hi! I’m glad you’ve already been reaping benefits from affiliate marketing and that you enjoy this type of online business. I wish it continues to grow for you so it may become your main income stream.

srinivasan · February 24, 2020 at 5:06 PM

With the high risks involved in the brick and mortar businesses, the online business option seems tempting to try out. I have tried out a few online business and did not find success. They do not teach the complete strategies to succeed and only ask you to pay a huge sum for one on one coaching. So, the online businesses I have tried, that say are free to start, are really not free.

    Henry · February 24, 2020 at 5:32 PM

Hi! Yes, I have seen that happening a lot. But, you can check out the platform I mentioned at the end of this post, they’re truly free to get started, and you can even build and host two sites completely free with them. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
